Generative AI Use, AI-Assisted Technologies and Disclosure Policy

JTPST recognizes that generative artificial intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted technologies can support authors during the preparation of manuscripts. However, authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and ethical standards of their submitted work.

Authors may use AI-assisted technologies for purposes such as improving language, grammar, readability, formatting, or assisting with certain aspects of manuscript preparation. AI tools must not replace the authors' responsibility for the scientific content, interpretation of results, conclusions, or overall integrity of the manuscript.

Generative AI tools must not be listed as authors or co-authors, as they cannot take responsibility for the content, approve the final manuscript, or fulfill the requirements of authorship.

Authors must disclose the use of generative AI or AI-assisted technologies when such tools have been used substantially in the preparation of a manuscript. The disclosure should identify the tool used and describe its purpose and extent of use. Simple spelling, grammar, or reference-formatting assistance may not require disclosure unless otherwise requested by the journal.

Authors remain responsible for verifying all AI-generated content, including facts, references, citations, data, figures, and interpretations. AI-generated material must not contain fabricated information, inaccurate references, plagiarism, or copyrighted material used without appropriate permission.

Peer Review and Editorial Process

Reviewers and editors must not upload confidential or unpublished manuscripts or manuscript content into publicly accessible generative AI tools where confidentiality cannot be guaranteed. AI tools must not be used to make independent editorial or peer-review decisions.

JTPST may request clarification regarding the use of AI-assisted technologies where necessary to maintain transparency and publication integrity.

Failure to appropriately disclose substantial use of generative AI, or misuse of AI resulting in plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, or other forms of publication misconduct, may result in appropriate editorial action in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policies.
